Use your own equipment in our training or have us bring our extensive inventory of equipment and supplies. You decide! You pick the objectives, products, and techniques of particular importance to your operations, and our skilled instructors and technicians will tailor a custom course to meet your requirements.

A custom course can be any length: one day, two day, or longer. It can take place at a time and place most convenient to your organization.

Advanced fiber optic training
The two day Advanced Fiber Optic Training Course provides a practical understanding of fiber optic communication systems and the skills required to properly design, install, and maintain fiber optic networks. Students will use the latest fiber optic technology and equipment to learn how to splice, connectorize, test, and troubleshoot optical fiber networks.

The course combines hands-on training (10 hours) with fiber optic theory (2 hours) to you with the ultimate learning experience.

We accept up to 8 students in one class! For a large number of students an additional classes will be organized.

Training Agenda, Day 1

Components and systems of optical connections. Basic fiber optic theory.

Connectorization Workshop. Cable preparation for splicing and connectorization. Termination methods for field-installable connectors. Installing appropriate connectors on 3mm jumper and on 900μ buffered fiber. Fast and Splice-on connectors. Chemical safety, laser safety and fiber handling precautions.

Cable placement techniques. Cable types, marking and selection. Cable installation and placement techniques in building, duct, aerial and direct-buried applications.

Panels & Enclosures preparation. Distribution, patch and splice panels, aerial and burial enclosures, application issues and selection criteria, routing and preparation. Mid-span cable entry using cable cutting tools. Build up and splice into a splice closure.

Fusion and mechanical splicing. Cleaning and cleaving. Fusion splicing with core and cladding alignment fusion splicer. Features and trouble shooting tips. Splice protector sleeves.

Basic tests. Microscopes, VFLs, Fiber Identifiers, Power Meters and Light Sources. Optical Loss Testing, Methods & Documentation.

Advanced measurements. OTDR theory & applications, Loss & system budget calculations, Methods & Documentation, Dual-wavelength testing, File naming, Data transfer to PC, and detail Event analyzing.

Activating an optical link to the network. Build, test and troubleshoot a fiber optic link.

Brief test. Questions and Answers, Completion of the course.

OTDR testing
After completing a brief test at the end of the training, you will receive a certificate of completion attesting that you have completed this recognized course of instruction in cabling installation and become a Certified Fiber Optic Cabling System Installer.

The cost for 2 day course is € 314,07 plus VAT per person which includes training materials, instructional manuals, meals, daytime refreshments and certificate.
